Take your bike on public transport

You can take your bike on public transport for free. Folding bikes are allowed on all trains, buses and trams in the West Midlands. 

You can also take non-folding bikes on most trains, but space is limited. You might have to reserve a spot for your bike.

Some train operators, including Chiltern and Avanti West Coast, allow motorised cycles (e-bikes). You will need to check the rules for each operator before you travel.

There’s free bike storage at all our tram stops, train and bus stations.

Rules for taking your bike on the train

These rules apply for all of our trains. It does not matter which operator you travel with. 

You must not leave your bike unattended. You must use the train’s cycle storage area for your bike. Look out for signs on the train - these tell you what to do.

You cannot take any of these on the train: 

• motorbikes
• mopeds
• motor scooters
• e-scooters
• tandem bikes
