Travelling home for the Festive Season
The Government has created a ‘travel window’ from 3rd – 9th December for students to leave their universities, if they intend to travel home or elsewhere for the Festive Season.
We are working with operators and regional universities to help get young people home safely.
Social distancing measures remain in place on public transport, meaning less people can travel. You will still be able to get where you need to go but you will need to plan ahead. Use
Capacity on public transport is limited to make sure you can travel as safely as possible. Everyone must wear a face covering onboard, at stations and interchanges.

Key Travel Advice
- When using public transport, plan ahead and book tickets in advance: with limited space on board there may be more demand for services.
- Face coverings are to be worn on all public transport, in stations and interchanges.
- If travelling by car, try and leave more time for your journey and check the highway routes before you travel – Highways England tell us that the motorway network is quieter during the period 11am to 3pm
