Save money and get involved
Discover the cheapest and easiest way to travel, including information on journey planning, ticket advice and any travel questions you have. We can also help you prove to the driver or conductor that you’re eligible for cheaper fares by getting an Under 16 or 16-18 Photocard.
We can help all year long. We can arrange to visit schools, colleges and universities throughout the year to talk to groups of students in class, assembly or at any education site events. If you would like to find out more please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
We have a range of information available:
Why pay full price for travel when tickets and passes are available to save you money?
Child rate fares
If you’re under 16 you’re able to buy child rate tickets and passes to cut the cost of travel.
Make sure that you only ever have to pay a child's fare by having a Photocard to prove your age. It proves to drivers and inspectors that you’re entitled to a child's fare, even if you look older.
You can use this card to get a child fare when you're paying cash or buying the child rate season ticket on the bus, train and Metro.
Apply for your Under-16 card now – it's free and easy to apply.
If you’re aged 16-18 and in full-time education you may be eligible to continue to pay child rate fares. You prove this to the driver or conductor by having a 16-18 card. Check to see if you’re eligible and apply for your card online.
If you're over 18 and in full-time education then our network student tickets are for you. Tickets are valid for one term and there are different options depending on how far you need to travel.
Free travel for apprentices
The WorkWise scheme offers free travel tickets to apprenticeship interviews and gives you free travel for four weeks if you get the job.
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) currently run a Youth Forum. Members are aged from 12-24 years old and are interested in all things transport related in the West Midlands. We meet up once per term on a Saturday morning and go out on the network visiting operators and learning how the trams, trains and buses keep us all travelling around. All young people in the West Midlands are welcome to join us and help TfWM shape the future of transport in the area.
